The Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum was established several decades ago by Natalie Kotsch, a Canadian woman who has never surfed.
Despite not being a surfer herself, Kotsch was captivated by the beach culture and the welcoming spirit of Huntington Beach. She founded the museum to preserve and catalog surfboards and the local surfing history.
The museum, which charges a nominal entry fee, is popular among both locals and tourists, including surfers from around the world. The museum serves as a space where visitors can share stories and “find out where some of their favorite local surfers are surfing these days”.
